Green section
To address the sustainability trend in today’s workplace and built environment, every issue of the Facility Management Journal includes a section entirely dedicated to this concept. The green section includes two editorials—“In the Green” and “Sustainability 101: Ask the Experts.” “In the Green” is a guest editorial highlighting concepts, ideas, personal accomplishments or strategic initiatives in sustainability. “Sustainability 101: Ask the Experts” is a question and answer piece that addresses common questions in the facility management and sustainability arenas. This is supplied by the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environments.
A variety of articles are accepted for this section as well. Green cleaning, indoor air quality, environmental strategy, recycling, climate change and social responsibility are among the various topics included here.
Pitches for this section are accepted year round.
FM Spotlight
The “FM Spotlight” section is dedicated to the IFMA membership and chapters/councils. It highlights facility managers who have excelled in specific areas or wish to discuss specific facility management topics. Here they can share personal stories and experiences.
This remains an evolving section. The FMJ staff is currently considering including additional features for the online version including more videos and podcasts.
FMJ Unscripted
FMJ Unscripted is a recurring podcast dedicated to providing informational and entertaining audio content to the facility management professional. Available in each online issue of the Facility Management Journal, FMJ Unscripted focuses on a range of industry topics.
Global Perspectives
“Global Perspectives” addresses IFMA’s various international initiatives, partnerships and/or programs as well as global facility management topics. Features such as articles and/or interviews may be considered for this section.
Government Affairs
The “Government Affairs” section includes a column written by IFMA’s director of government relations. It may also include an article concerning facility management government initiatives and legislative efforts in Washington, D.C. and abroad.
New Products
“New Products” reviews eight to 12 industry products each issue. This section can include a variety of products from facility management industries such as lighting, flooring, security/safety, cleaning, construction and ergonomics.
